F2P

August in review

The month of August ended with PR’s in mileage (57.3) and in the gym (2019 pushups).

What lies ahead?

September 1 marked the first appearance of the F2P 4 man relay team. These 3 Speeders and a Clydesdale came in 17th overall and were the 3rd men's open team to cross the finish line with a time of 1:43:39 (and did it in STYLE).

The group also brought home some hardware in the form of the I ran “The ATL” Hype Award presented by The Running Nerds.

The faces of F2P are working to build the brand for future events starting with 13.1 Boston September 16, 2012.

Vote for me and tell your friends

I was unable to get a team together in time to run last weeks Atlanta Marathon Relay. To do my part I decided to make a sign and enter the Atlanta Track Club's sign contest. To my surprise my sign was chosen to go to the 2nd round and is now being voted on for the GRAND PRIZE.
Please click on link and vote for my sign on page 2 (Troy W). Voters have a chance to win a $50 gift card.. Voting closes on Friday and you can vote once per day. Thanks for voting everyone and good luck https://www.facebook.com/AtlantaTrackClub?sk=app_214552975281119

The Publix GA 1/2 Marathon

It is 3 days after my 2nd 1/2 Marathon and I am still feeling the effects of all of Downtown Atlanta's hills. Sunday was almost perfect. The GOOD: weather, good music on the ipod, great volunteers, Georgia Force Cheerleaders at LIL 5 Points and ended with me getting a PR of 3:27:01 (4 min faster than my first 1/2 Marathon), The BAD: Hill after Hill after Hill, Not making my goal time of 3:17 or faster, Leg cramps from mile 10-12, and finish line confusion (ran out of food for runners so we had to wait 20-30 min for supplies to be restocked) The UGLY(or just plan crazy) The costumes..... From the couple dressed as Scooby Doo and a bottle of mustard, or the guy playing the guitar in only a cowboy hat and underwear.... All in all a good day and I got new BLING so I am happy

Why do I PUSH

I push myself harder everyday. Going hard is the only way to get the results I want, the only way to reach my full potential. If you do the same things you will stay in the same place. In 2008 when I was over 400 lbs I never thought I would be walking a mile, definitely didn't think I would be running a 5k New Years day 2010, by the end of year I had done five 5k's two 10k's one 10 miler a 6k and a Half Marathon. ALL done with no training at all (not a smart move by me) I had found my competitive spirit again . My mind, and heart were geared up for every race but my body wasn't. I felt the aches and pains for days and days.... Like I said, NOT A SMART MOVE. Fast Forward. Two months into 2011 and I am waiting for my calender to read March 20. Amped up for the Publix Ga 1/2 Marathon. This is my 2nd Half and now I am both mentally and physically prepared. I have done two 5k's this year and as of today nikeplus.com says I have tagged a total of 79.44 miles since Jan 1, 2011 (two 5k's + 73.24 training miles) So now back to the question..... Why DO I PUSH ? I push myself so that I can be the best me I can be. Friends and Family I push you because I have been there. Having someone in your corner is a wonderful thing. Especially when that person has walked 13.1 miles in your shoes.

Thought of the day

Every second push harder, every minute dig deeper, every hour go further. If you do this every day you will be better.

CABIN FEVER

This week has been a REAL TEST. 3 days stuck in the house due to the snow and ice in Atlanta. With the Ga 1/2 marathon in 2 months I need to be outside running not pulling my hair out watching the walls. Time to get a treadmill

What a difference a year makes. Jan 1 2010 I decided with my fiance to start our year with the Atlanta Track Club and run Resolution Run 2010 5K. maybe we should try the 5k. End results a 51:30 time for me and a renewed competitive spirit I hadn't had since my days of playing football. During the course of 2010 I have logged numorus miles, met tons of new friends and lost some pounds too. Fast forward January 1, 2011 Resolution Run 2011.... My time 42:03 this is going to be a good year.

Happy New Year

As I look at 2010 I think about how far I have come. From my first 5K 1/1/2010 to my first 1/2 Marathon. Tomorrow marks my 1 year anniversary as a runner and I really get to measure myself. SAME RACE, SAME COURSE..... BUT I AM A DIFFERENT MAN.

January 2010 - NOW

I have come along way this year. Hard to believe that I just ran a 1/2 marathon 2 days ago but I have the pain in my ankles and legs as a reminder. Last Thanksgiving I was so thankful to see another holiday and vowed that I would change my lifestyle and get healthy over the next 365 days. A year later I ran a 1/2 Marathon on Thanksgiving Day .
I am proud of myself for all the progress I have made. I have heard of going from couch potato to 5K but in 2010 I've gone from couch potato to 5K-10K and now I have earned my first medal . COUCH POTATO TO 1/2 MARATHON in 365 days.

Homecoming 2010 - A look in the Mirror

This past weekend was my high school homecoming. I had a chance to see and talk to alot of old friends and former teammates. Received several comments on my new slimmer look. And also got to look back at myself 15 years ago when I was high school senior 10 pounds lighter than i am right now. Out of shape and going through the motion'sof sports, school, life and growing up. Everyone wants to know why i do so much more. What happened from then to now? LOL i do it for the looks on your faces. I do it for the doubter's and naysayer's . I do this cause no one expected it of me. I do this for me

911 Never give up

Ran the Singleton 10 mile this morning. 10 miles!!!!! Wow.... My longest road race yet..... I knew it wouldn't be easy but I knew that if I REALLY want to be ready for the Atlanta Half Marathon my training has got to get picked up. So bye bye 5K and 10K..... 10 mile here I come.... Beautiful day outside, early start time, and great volunteers..... This should be fun. Mile 1 12:40, mile 2 25:31. Gut check at around 4 1/2 miles. Do the Singelton 5 mile or 10 mile?????Go Hard or go HOME. Looking up at the 5mile/10mile split I decide to stick with the 10. I glance up again and I see that I am the only person left doing 10 miler, the group of people I was just with were ALL 5milers... All I can think is "Dude you still weigh over 300 pounds... What am I doing?" Alone I continue on.... mile 6, mile 7, mile 8. My body aches , I am tired, I am thirsty. Course is empty now. The time keepers are gone.... Its just me, my ipod, the open road a few volunteers and the Dekalb County Police Department. Mile 9. Almost Home.... I am cramping, shedding a few tears also. Mile 10..... The finish.... 2 hours 27 min..... AND now the pain sets in...... NEVER GIVE UP
